Jumpstart Your Cloud Skills with Free Oracle Cloud Learning Resources

Cloud is the new normal. Whether you’re building new applications or migrating existing ones, you need a solid understanding of cloud concepts. Increasing your knowledge is the best way to chart a successful course for cloud adoption and technology transformation overall.

In late 2016, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure launched with a single region and a few core services. Since then, we’ve expanded to more than 50 services available in 16 regions worldwide, and we plan to have 36 regions and many more capabilities by the end of 2020. Last year, we launched more than 350 features and many new services. We’re truly hitting our stride and providing customers with comprehensive services to modernize their business on Oracle Cloud.

Learning on the Job Is Challenging

When customers first learn about Oracle Cloud, they often talk about skill gaps. Their system admins, DBAs, engineers, and developers understand on-premises technologies well, but they have limited exposure to Oracle Cloud and often little experience with cloud in general.
The reality is that learning at work is hard. You need to set aside time to learn apart from your regular tasks and the inevitable interruptions, and spend money on training and certifications, and you don’t know ahead of time whether the learning will be relevant or enjoyable.

How We Can Help

We understand these challenges. In the last 24 months, we’ve run numerous in-person and virtual training classes for our own employees, customers, and partners. Overwhelmingly, attendees tell us these classes help them up-level their cloud knowledge and effectiveness in using Oracle Cloud in particular.
To make learning about Oracle Cloud easier for everyone, we’re releasing the same content that we use in our classrooms online for free. We have more than 150 videos, providing more than 30 hours of content, for you to consume at your own pace.
We’ve made a few changes in how this content is organized:
  • Content is divided into levels: L100 (foundational), L200 (advanced), and L300 (expert). These levels allow learners to progress from the basics of cloud through advanced deployment and best practices for challenging workload scenarios.
  • Every module is divided into standalone, easy-to-digest submodules. Whether you want to learn about identity policies, compute autoscaling, NAT gateways, or anything else, we have a short submodule about the topic. People learn in chunks, and we hope the submodules help you learn better.
  • Each submodule is recorded and typically shorter than 15 minutes. You can watch one or two submodules during your commute or lunch break, or between meetings. We all have demands on our time and innumerable distractions; our goal is to facilitate learning at your own schedule and pace.
  • Every module ends with an assessment, so you can evaluate your grasp of the concepts. If you miss anything, you can easily find and review the relevant content again. This way, you build a knowledge foundation gradually, filling in gaps and addressing challenges as they become apparent.

Learning Modules and Submodules

The following table lists the modules, the number of submodules, and the total time for each. This content is available on our training web pages: L100L200, and L300.
